Hair care is essential to maintain healthy hair extensions!
Hair extensions take patience, time and care to ensure they stay looking amazing and to prevent any damage to your natural hair!
Hair extensions that are applied, worn and cared for correctly are not a threat to your natural locks!
Products are extremely important and the shampoo and conditioner from the company where the hair is from is a must! Highstreet, baby and any other shampoo with just not do!
Using the wrong shampoo will cause hair to become dry and can cause damage to the bonds, tips or weft tracks.
We always recommend a deep treatment mask once a week through mid-lengths and ends too!
Heat protection spray is vital if you are using heated tools on your hair extensions and an oil is great to keep the ends silky too!
Hair extensions must be detangled from the bottom working up! Holding the hair extensions at the roots whilst gently brushing helps to stop unnecessary tension on the natural hair.
Hair extensions must be brushed daily and single extensions must be separated with fingers to stop any matting!
Never go to bed with wet hair, always make sure hair is completely dry and loosely plaited to stop night time tangles! Some ladies even invest in a silk pillow to stop friction and errrm be aware some other night time activities can cause friction too!
Washing and drying:
Hair should be washed no more than 2-3 times a week and dry shampoo may become your new BF!
When washing hair it should be washed gently in a shower not over a bath, water should be warm and not too hot!
Hair should always be dried thoroughly and with a cool hair dryer, using a dryer on a hot setting can cause bonds and tips to become sticky and weave bands to snap and perish.
Human hair extensions can be styled with straighteners and other heated tools however you must be careful to avoid the roots and the more you heat the less time the extensions may last.
Salt water should be avoided and swimming in chlorine can discolour and dry the extensions so no deep diving!
UV light can cause hair to discolour too so always using a UV protection spray and wearing a hat is important when spending time in the sun.
Hair extensions will last longer if cared for correctly! You should have maintenance for single extensions every 4-6 weeks and no hair extensions should EVER be pushed up! This promotes matting and you are not having the dead hair removed therefore all weaves and weft should be taken out and refitted as needed.
Hair extensions should be removed by a trained professional, it can be tempting to try and do this yourself NO!!! we have seen many home removals gone wrong!
Hair extensions are fabulous for most people, care for them correctly and they can be beautiful just like you!
